No picture available at this time.

Southern Spider Crab (Jacquinotia edwardsii)
Maximum carapace width: males 21cm, females 14.5cm; marketable specimens are males, 14-21cm

Females do not have large claws, hence meat recovery is much lower.

Occurs around Auckland and Campbell Islands, off the southern coast of the South Island, and the Pukaki Rise. Most abundant in localized areas at Auckland Islands 20-100m. Can be caught with large, steel-frames, wire mesh pots. Fishery not developed; possibly potential for small scale, factory-ship operation.
